Redmi Note 7 pro is an android device recently launched in market with lots of features. The main attraction is that the phone having 48+5MP camera and decent 4000Mah battery backup. When it comes to Rooting developers are ported the custom recovery image and root file to get the root access. So in this article will be discussing how to root Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 pro and Install Twrp Recovery.

What is Rooting?

Rooting is nothing but gaining the root directory access to the device firmware. In normal non-rooted device we have limited amount of access to the root directory. By Rooting you will be able to access the files and make changes as per your wish.

(Note: Before you start all the below steps make sure you have took all the important file backup)

How to Unlock the bootloader of Redmi Note 7 Pro

  1. Install ADB and fastboot tools with drivers on windows system from HERE


  1. Unlock the Bootloader.

Step1: Create a Mi account if you don’t have create from HERE

Step2: Connect your Mi account to your device. for that go to: Settings/ Additional Settings/Developer Options/Mi Unlock status and check “Add account and device” and add the Mi account that you just created.

(Note: Unlocking the bootloader will erase all your data! So please back up your data before you unlock the bootloader!)

Step3: You must enable “OEM Unlocking” and “USB Debugging” for that Go to : Settings/about Phone and click on Build number or MIUI Version 7-8 times continuously soon after will give a toast showing that “You are now a Developer” then Go back to additional settings then you will be able to see an option called “Developer option” click on that and enable both “OEM Unlocking” and “USB Debugging”.

Step4: Do remember you should connect your account with your device.

Step5: Download Mi Unlock Tool and install from HERE

Step6: Open the Mi Unlock Tool and connect the phone to your Windows system. Make sure you are installed all the drivers to your windows system. After connecting check your phone detected or not

Step7: To check detection open command prompt by pressing Win+R and type “cmd” after you type “adb devices” in command prompt this will give your phone serial number as result. If not that means some where you missed some steps.

Step8: Go to the folder where you have put the “ADB and Fastboot” and open a command window inside that folder. To do that hold together “Shift + Right Click” on any empty white space inside the folder and then select “Open PowerShell Window Here” or “Open Command Window Here”

Step9: in command window enter the command “fastboot devices” it should once again show your device.

(If you don’t see your device in you sommand window it means that you weren’t installed drivers properly)

Step10:  If you see your device then enter the terminal command in command line: “fastboot oem device-info

If your bootloader is locked, you’ll get the following status (or something similar):

(bootloader) Device tampered: false
(bootloader) Device unlocked: false
(bootloader) Device critical unlocked: false
(bootloader) Charger screen enabled: false
(bootloader) Display panel:
OKAY [ 0.058s]
finished. total time: 0.063s

Step11: After registering to Mi unlock tool by giving the OTP it will ask you to enter into fastboot mode.

Step12: Enter the fastboot mode by holding together “Volume Down + Power” and connect your device to your computer via USB cable (best would be the original cable)

Step13: Start the unlock process

Step14: Follow the unlock tool instructions until the unlock procedure is finished or it may ask you to wait 72 hours or more. In that case wait till that period and then try unlocking again

Step15: Reboot your device.

(To check your device unblocked go back to step10 and check whether it giving the different output)

        3. Install the TWRP recovery

Download the twrp recovery from HERE

Step1: Boot into fastboot by pressing and holding together “Volume Down + Power”

Step2: Open command prompt by pressing Win+R in your windows system

Step3: type “fastboot flash recovery twrp(type the actual name of twrp here). img”

Step4:  Boot into recovery before rebooting and to do this, type- “fastboot boot twrp-” or “fastboot reboot recovery” or do it manually by holding “Volume up+Power”

Step5: After reboot the device with in the flashed twrp recovery
Step6: Now you have successfully flashed TWRP recovery in your phone.

           4. How to Root Redmi Note 7 pro

Download the Super SU file from HERE

Step1: Boot into the flashed TWRP recovery

Step2: Go to install section and choose the Super SU file which you downloaded.

Step3: After installing wipe dalvick cache and reboot

Step4: Check your root access with any root checker application.
